Dog is Allergic to Sutures!

My two year old mixed breed, Terrier something, Is allergic to Sutures. She had a series of scary surgeries on her floating kneecaps that all ended up in vain when she was allergic to the stitches the used to hold the rubber band over her kneecaps, and her knees themselves are so fine they could not be ground down to fit better, they'd simply shatter. This poses my first question of aside from keeping her light and active, what can I do to save her from some of the pain later in life?

My second question, my Dog has turned out allergic to two different types of sutures, one of the internal and dissolvable, and the other the vet removed to replace with Staples after about two weeks. The vet said these types of sutures were supposedly "nearly opposites" concerning what they were made of, and that means Beanie is probably allergic to all types of usually used Sutures.

Beanie is only two and has a full life of a Dogs Wonder and Bad Decisions ahead of her, what are her other options for this sort of thing? She was fine with staples but what about if she needs something internal?

Stitches ate nowadays made of different materials, has your vet considered noting what material your dog was allergic and try another? My dog had problems with her knees and other than keeping her light, my vet recommended keeping her on glucosamine/chondroitin for the rest of her life. Has your vet suggested this?

OK, I see your dog was allergic to already two types. I found over the internet the existence of hypoallergenic sutures for people, I wonder if they make them for pets too.

No He hasn't, and if there were hypoallergenic Sutures I think he probably would have mentioned that. He told us that since Beanie was allergic to the sutures holding the band for her Luxating Patellas in place, and that he had used two, and very different ones, just in case one did get infected from her body rejecting them, so he wouldn't have to replace them both, but she ended up allergic to both of them so he had to completely remove them.

Mostly I was asking if anyone with this problem of Suture allergys, knows what the protocol is for when your dog needs surgery again. I doubt they use Staples inside the body, for instance. Does this mean she can never have internal surgery again?

This is quite an unusual situation, so I really can't help with this, but if you haven't done so already, I would suggest a visit with an orthopedic specialist to see if there are any other options for your situation. These specialists perform these surgeries very frequently so they're more likely to have seen it all...perhaps they have different techniques up their sleeves. Also, perhaps a holistic vet can offer alternatives to surgery.I doubt staples can be used internally, as every time my dogs had staples they had to be removed after 15 days and were always used for external wounds.

Here are some alternate options by holistic websites:
massage, Adequan injections, glucosamine, water threadmill, acupuncture, diet.

Another option if you see an orthopedic surgeon specialist is to see if your dog may benefit from the delivery of adult stem cells which can be used for the treatment of osteoarthritis, ligament and other bone injuries.
