Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Quote from Mileysmom on May 7, 2022, 5:42 pmMy 2yr old Boxer mix was recently diagnosed with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Her tumor is located in the front of her mouth. Surgery is recommended, but the cost is way out of our price range. The other options are radiation or chemo. With both, we will have to limit our children's exposure to her and not to mention what ever side effects (both are experimental). Has anyone had an animal have this type of cancer? Looking for advise or experience with whatever treatments you have tried. Thanks.

Quote from Daisy on May 7, 2022, 5:43 pmI personally haven't had a dog with this type of cancer, but I can suggest reading some Books by Demian Dressler also known as the "cancer vet." There 's also a group on Facebook tackling dog cancer. If you are looking into holistic options, look into a Facebook group about turmeric, a herb that has had many success stories in educing growths in horses and dogs.

Quote from Madmax on May 7, 2022, 5:46 pmWow, sorry to hear your dog was diagnosed with cancer at such a young age. One of my dogs had this cancer but he was 12 at that time and surgery wasn't an option due to age. I used K9 Immunity and Apocaps along with a home-made diet and this granted him several more months that the vets didn't expect; however, these didn't stop the cancer, only slowed down its progression. If you cannot afford the surgery (I know for a fact it is indeed quite costly), have you looked into Carecredit? I think there are also some animal welfare organizations that can help out with vet bills as well.
